Seventh Annual Awards Celebrates New England's Most Inventive Technology Advancements

Gotuit has been selected as a winner in the 7th Annual MITX Technology Awards in the Rich Media category. The program kicked off New England Innovation Month by lauding local development and implementation of technologies in the digital industry. Winners were announced in eleven categories, in addition to several "Best of" awards and PricewaterhouseCoopers Promise Awards, at the ceremony attended by more than 350 industry professionals held on June 2nd at the Marriott Copley Plaza in Boston.

Our application focused on our  Video Metadata Management System (VMMS) and the rich, scene-level metadata fundamentally changes how video can be packaged, presented, searched, and monetized.  We also highlighted how major video publishers such as Fox, ESPN, ABC, Turner, NBA and others, are using the Video Metadata Management System to drive deeper viewer engagement and are integrating the VMMS into their existing video workflows.  Congratulations to the other finalists in the Rich Media category, including Brainshark, Brightcove, Episend, RAMP and Wistia.

This is our second MITX Technology award, as we also won in the Digital Media category in 2007.

We are excited to announce that we were named a finalist for the 2010 MITX Technology Awards in the Rich Media category (four years running). Check out the entire list of finalists here. The MITX Technology Awards recognize emergent and innovative technologies developed in the New England area.

The focus of our application this year was the adoption of Gotuit's Video Metadata Management System (VMMS) by major video publishers such as ESPN, Turner, NBA and others, as well as efforts by our customers to integrate the VMMS into their existing video workflows.  This includes customer's existing content management systems and video players being enhanced to receive feeds of Gotuit metadata and to use that scene-level metadata to improve their content presentation, video search, advertising inventory and targeting.

Gotuit will be recognized with the other finalists in the category of Rich Media and winners will be announced on June 2nd at the 7th Annual MITX Technology Awards event.

We were very happy today to learn that we were named a finalist for the 2009 MITX Technology Awards in the Rich Media category (for the third year in a row!).  You can see all the 2009 finalists listed here.

While our entry was for our complete Gotuit Video Metadata Management System (VMMS), we showcased our work with World Wrestling Entertainment and the WWE Smash-Ups site.  It is a terrific example for Rich Media, as WWE created a compelling new video product using our technology and a subset of their video archive.  Their viewers go to Smash-Ups to put together two minute remixes from the authorized WWE video library.  Delivering strong viewer engagement with powerful inherent viral sharing, look for other remix customer announcements from us soon.

The winners will be announced on June 16th at the 6th Annual MITX Technology Awards event.  Details can be found here.  Having won back in 2007, we are looking to reclaim our title!

What Do Apple, Adobe, Microsoft, and Gotuit Have In Common?

Answer - we each have products that were selected, along with six other companies, in the 2008 Streaming Media Editor’s Picks. This annual list, recently published in the 2008 Streaming Media Industry Sourcebook and online at streamingmedia.com here , highlights “the top ten products and services in the streaming and online video industries in the last year.”

Here is what Streaming Media editor Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen wrote about our flagship product: “The Gotuit PowerVideo Suite is the only product in our Editor’s Picks list that also took home a Streaming Media Reader’s Choice Award (Oct/Nov pp.30-42). That award was in the Search and Indexing Platform category, but the VideoDiscovery Module is only part of the PowerVideo Suite’s four-pronged attack. Granted that’s a terrific app for both viewers and advertisers - videos in a library are marked with metadata for each logical scene, and then scenes are categorized into playlists based upon that metadata - but the VideoMarker and VideoMixer modules are equally impressive. The former lets users themselves control the marking and tagging of their favorite clips, while the latter allows publishers to give users various degrees of control over the metadata, building far richer search and indexing experiences than would otherwise be possible.”

The full list of 2008 Streaming Media Editor’s Picks is as follows: Accordent Media Management System, Adobe Media Player, Apple iPhone, Elgato Turbo.264, Gotuit PowerVideo Suite, Microsoft Expression Encoder, Mogulus Live Broadcast, Rhozet Carbon Coder, ViewCast Niagara GoStream Plus, and Wowza Media Server Pro.

It is an honor to be acknowledged by such an authority on the industry, and alongside such prominent companies and compelling products. We have been building out our patented video metadata technology for over eight years, and this recognition is a tremendous validation of our unique approach to unleashing video libraries.
